The Challenge

Many adults lack confidence when responding to emergencies because traditional first aid training is expensive, inaccessible or difficult to remember. The challenge was designing a mobile experience that makes learning first aid simple, engaging and available anytime.

User Research

User Research

Research included interviews with adults, analysis of existing learning platforms and emergency response resources. Key findings highlighted the need for shorter lessons, visual guidance and interactive practice.

User Flow

The learning journey was simplified into a clear progression from onboarding through course completion, helping users quickly access lessons, complete quizzes and review emergency procedures.

Wireframes

Low-fidelity wireframes explored different navigation structures, lesson layouts and quiz interactions before refining the final interface.

Design System

A scalable design system was developed to ensure consistency across the application, including typography, colours, buttons, learning cards, icons, illustrations and accessibility standards.

Final Interface

The final experience combines structured learning, emergency reference guides, quizzes and progress tracking into a clean, accessible interface that encourages continuous learning.

Interactive Prototype

A high-fidelity interactive prototype was created in Figma to validate navigation, learning flows and overall usability before development.

Outcome

Aider Champ demonstrates how thoughtful mobile UX can make life-saving knowledge more accessible. By breaking first aid education into interactive, easy-to-follow lessons, the app encourages users to build confidence and retain essential emergency skills.

Reflection

This project strengthened my skills in designing educational mobile experiences, simplifying complex medical information and creating accessible interfaces for a diverse audience. It reinforced the importance of balancing usability, clarity and engagement in health-focused digital products.
